Over 2 million high school students sit for the ACT each year, 86% of whom intend to pursue postsecondary education (in some American states, the ACT is administered to all students, whether they are college-bound or not). According to ACT statistics, the mean composite score for all test-takers is 21, with average sectional scores slightly above or below this level (the ACT composite score is simply the average of the four sectional scores). ACT considers composite scores of 27 or higher to be appropriate for highly selective universities, defined as any school where the majority of first-year students finished in the top 10% of their high school's graduating class. Examples of highly selective universities include Harvard (middle-50% ACT score range of 32-35), Carnegie Mellon (31-34), and the University of California-Berkeley (29-34). ACT total scores of 25-27 are competitive at selective universities (those schools where the majority of first-year students were in the top 25% of their high school graduating class). The University of California-Los Angeles (middle-50% ACT scores of 25-32), the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (25-30), and the University of Vermont (25-30) have ACT scores that overlap with this category of school.

Manhattan Review's ACT private tutoring and ACT prep courses consistently produce successful applicants to world-class institutions such as Stanford, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Pennsylvania, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California-Los Angeles, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, the University of Virginia, the University of Chicago, and the California Institute of Technology. Manhattan Review's test prep clients from years past are now living prosperous and fulfilling professional lives. Some are employed by great companies in Manila, including Primer Group of Companies, San Miguel Corporation, Philtrust Bank, TicketNet, and Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation. An even larger group of our former test prep students are now working for Fortune 500 firms, such as Walgreens Boots Alliance, United Technologies, Dow Chemical, JP Morgan Chase, and Prudential Financial. At Manhattan Review, we look forward to boasting about the success of our current and future groups of Manila students.

Meet a Manila ACT Tutor: Dudley P.

Dudley P., who is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, holds a bachelor of arts in English from the University of California-Los Angeles and a master of education from the University of Southern California. He was a high school English teacher in Los Angeles for seven years, and he is now on the faculty of a prestigious international school in Manila, where he teaches courses on literature.

Dudley has been teaching ACT prep for 10 years, the last three of them in Manila. He is highly adept at all forms of ACT instruction, from online and on-site classes to private tutoring programs. His experience as a high school teacher makes it easy for him to relate to teenagers, and his students regularly give him very high marks on his student evaluations.
